Skiing at Cerro Catedral

Saturday 27 August 2016

Today we finally got to ski the famous Bariloche ski resort of Cerro Catedral and we were really pretty impressed. Although the storm that we had experienced the night before on the other side of the lake didn’t seem to provide much new snow, and although the snow did not go right down to the car park, it was definitely the biggest resort we’ve been to in South America and even rivaled some we’ve been to in Switzerland. There were too many runs to try in one day. Those we did ski were nice and long.   On Top of the Mountain - Bariloche from Trevor Angst on Vimeo.

Because we had a long drive over the border to Chile the next day, we decided to cut out the second night at Bariloche and head back to Villa La Angostura saving an extra 90 minute drive. We stayed at Marinas Alto Manzano (the same hotel we stayed back in 2012) and were once again impressed by the beautiful view. This is the morning view. What else can we say?

Even now, nearly four years after we first looked out over the view from our apartment at Villa La Angostura we still dreamed about going back and seeing it again. Having done so, we found our memories were not distorted by nostalgia or delusion – it really was incredibly beautiful.
